YouTube user bacobjee captured some impressive closeup footage of Mount Tavurvur on the island ofNew Britain, Papua New Guinea erupting on August 29th, 2014. The active volcano has erupted a number of times over the past century, including an eruption in 2006 and one particularly massive occurrence in 1937 alongside the nearby volcano Vulcan, which killed a combined 508 people. The video captures the initial eruption, a shockwave and some commentary by nearby viewers.
