‘I F$CK$NG HATE YOU!’: IGGY POP GOES APESH#T DURING COMBATIVE (AND AMAZING) 2003 STOOGES SHOW

On April 27th, 2003, a reunited Stooges played at Coachella, marking the first time in nearly 30 years Iggy Pop had performed with the Asheton brothers. It went so well that what was supposed
to be a one-off gig turned out to be just the beginning. For the next five-plus years, the Stooges toured the world over, playing in front
of adoring crowds—for the most part. Six months after the Coachella date, the band had another festival appearance, but instead of encountering their usual audience—fans thrilled to be seeing the Stooges—the group was met with indifference and hostility.
This REALLY pissed off Iggy, and brought out the fighting spirit in him. The Stooges’ set that evening recalled the confrontational shows of the past, and turned out to be one of the most memorable gigs this version of the band ever did.

In 2003, the annual Voodoo Music Experience festival was held at City Park in New Orleans from October 31st-November 2nd. The lineup was a mix of jam bands, rap acts, and groups that were popular on mainstream rock radio at the time. Plus, the Stooges.

The first song is their usual set opener, “Loose,” from the second Stooges album, Fun House—

one of the greatest records EVER MADE—and the crowd just stands and stares. Iggy immediately recognizes that the audience doesn’t care, and he becomes combative. Throughout the show, 

Pop hurls a range of insults at the apathetic kids—including a guy he can clearly see is yawning. 

The best put-down of the night: “You suck like the bands you like.” But there are moments when Iggy’s doing his best to stay positive; at one point, he invites the audience to come on stage, 

though just one dude takes him up on it. Other times, as he unleashes on the dum dums in attendance, the Ig’s rage is palpable. 

The Stooges’ November 1st performance was scheduled between nu metal band Staind and the headlining act, Marilyn Manson. At the conclusion of Staind’s set, a good chunk of the young crowd—who we have to presume had never heard of the Stooges—left to check out another one of the fest’s stages, while most of those that remained were there to hold their ground for Marilyn Manson. When an MC came out and hyped the upcoming Stooges set, there was faint applause, but the kids went crazy when he mentioned Marilyn Manson

It turned out to be a fantastic performance, despite—no, scratch that—*because* of the aloof crowd, which spurred the band on. It’s the closest a reunited Stooges would ever get to the days of Metallic KO.

Genesis In Concert 1976

Genesis: In Concert is a concert film directed and produced by Tony Maylam for the English progressive rock band Genesis. The recording of the film took place during concerts in Glasgow, Scotland and Stafford, England in 1976. The film was released in 1977.

The film was released on laserdisc in Japan in 1992.

The 2007 reissue of A Trick of the Tail includes Genesis: In Concert as a feature on a bonus DVD. The film was taken from the videotape master used for the laserdisc, rather a fresh transfer from film elements. Possibly as a result of reusing the laserdisc release's master, the DVD's audio and video are sped up to the PAL framerate (25 fps, when the original film elements may have been shot at 24 fps) and the pitch of the soundtrack is not corrected for the 4.167% increase in playback speed.

Iron Maiden - Raising Hell

Raising Hell is a concert video by the heavy metal band Iron Maiden, filmed on 28 August 1993 at the Pinewood Studios in London, England and broadcast live on pay-per-view television in the United Kingdom and on MTV in North America. The video was originally distributed on VHS and Laserdisc by BMG Special Products in the US and EMI in the rest of the world. It was subsequently released on DVD several years later in the US.

The concert was the last to feature vocalist Bruce Dickinson (until he returned to the band in 1999). The band played on stage in conjunction with horror magician Simon Drake, who ended up "killing" Dickinson in an Iron Maiden torture device, "amputated" Dave Murray's hands on a table saw and "killed" members of the crew and audience.

Metallica - Cliff 'Em All 1987

Cliff 'Em All is a compilation of video footage by the American thrash metal band Metallica. It was released in 1987 as a tribute to Metallica's bassistCliff Burton, who died in a tour bus accident on September 27, 1986, at the age of 24, near Ljungby, Sweden during the European leg of their Damage, Inc. Tour. Its title is derived from Metallica's debut album, Kill 'Em All. The home video also features a performance with former guitarist Dave Mustaineon March 19, 1983, shortly before his ouster from the band for heavy drug and alcohol abuse.

The video is a retrospective on the 3 and a half years that Cliff Burton was in Metallica, presented as a collection of bootleg footage shot by fans, some professional filming and TV shots that were never used and some of his best bass solos, personal photos and live concerts. Photos and narrations by the band (Ulrich, Hetfield and Hammett drinking beer) are placed between songs which focus on Burton before fading into a title card of a performance. The video ends with the melodic interlude of "Orion" as pictures of Burton are shown.

With this video, the band tries to show the unique personality and style he had. While ostensibly the film focuses on Burton, it also has given fans a rare glimpse of Metallica's less-documented early career. This contrasts sharply with the 'Metallica business' represented in the feature film Some Kind of Monster.

Sepultura - Under Siege (Live in Barcelona) 1991 full concert

Under Siege (Live in Barcelona) is the first live home video by Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura, released in 1991. Directed by Stephen Payne and produced by Stephen Malit, it was recorded during their mid-1991 European Arise tour and prominently features songs from the said album. Barcelona was chosen by Payne as he had heard the crowds there were the best in Europe. This proved to be true. Interspersed between the songs are interviews with the band members in which they discuss their religious views, how they got together and growing up in Belo Horizonte. The video was later remastered and released as part of Chaos DVD.

Motörhead - Everything Löuder Than Everything Else 1991 (Full Concert)

Everything Louder than Everyone Else is the third live album by the British band Motörhead. The title refers to a remark repeated by Ian Gillan of Deep Purple on their Made in Japan live album: "Could we have everything louder than everything else?". Recorded at a show in Hamburg, Germany on 21 May 1998. Everything Louder than Everyone Else is produced 'undubbed' in a two disc format. It was first released as a digipak version, later followed by a slimline 2CD jewel-case run.






1916 Live...Everything Louder than Everything Else is a 1991 live video featuring Motörhead's performance recorded at the Deutsches Museum inMunich, Germany on 11 March 1991. Most of the material was recorded in grainy b/w, en vogue at the time. However, some scenes were recorded in colour, or have some colour in them.

The initial UK release has a sticker on the front, inviting fans to send off for a free poster.

Kreator - Extreme Aggression Tour (1989-1990) full concert

Thrash metal band Kreator released in 1989. While the band had already gained a sizeable following in the US due to their 1987 tour with the crossover thrash band D.R.I., this album introduced many American fans to Kreator, primarily through heavy rotation of the "Betrayer" music video on MTV's Headbanger's Ball, which was partly shot at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. This album was their first issued in the US by Epic Records. The album was also available on picture disc vinyl.

Rising popularity (1987–1991)
In 1987, Kreator released their third studio album, Terrible Certainty, which is often considered a high-quality Kreator album as the arrangements on the album were more complex and the tempos more varied. The album featured another hit "Behind the Mirror", and the band's popularity continued to grow and a video for "Toxic Trace" was created for MTV play. They managed to find enough time and money (coming from the concerts) to finance another EP, Out of the Dark ... Into the Light.

Berlin based independent record label Noise Records licensed Kreator for the territories outside of Europe and Japan to the major label Epic Records in 1988. Their fourth studio album and debut with Epic (for limited territories) Extreme Aggression, recorded in Los Angeles, became a metal hit in Europe upon its release in 1989. Continuing the Terrible Certainty formula while showing the band still progressing musically and with better production by the well-regarded Randy Burns (also Megadeth among others), the album featured the band's first major singles and music videos, the title track and "Betrayer", becoming major hits on MTVs Headbangers Ball. They toured North America with Suicidal Tendencies, which greatly expanded their popularity outside of Europe.

In 1989, German director Thomas Schadt made a documentary about Kreator (focusing on the social aspect of heavy metal in the Ruhr Area) titled Thrash Altenessen (named after the band's hometown, a suburb of Essen). Tritze left Kreator after Extreme Aggression. In 1990, with new guitarist Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik (also formerly of Sodom), the band released Coma of Souls. The album was not quite as praised as the band's previous few albums (many felt the album was "rushed" and repetitive), but still managed sell and maintain popularity quite well, with the singles "When the Sun Burns Red" and "People of the Lie" becoming hits.
