Artist Chip Trout has a goal. For 91 days he’s going to take a
lithograph from a tattered Currier & Ives book and make
some…adjustments to it. Since everything is better with monsters, Chip
took images that featured lots of action and placed creatures of his own
design into the image, often times changing how it could be
interpreted. Below are 20 of the images that Chip has done so far, but
you can check out others, and follow him all the way up to day 91 at the
site
CreaturesandIves.com . It should be fun to watch.
A Friend in Need
Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden
American Brook Trout
Chip’s trout looks really uncomfortable.
American Homestead Winter
That creature looks like he’s going to attack the guy with the firewood.
Armoured Steel Cruiser
Battle of Corinth
The Civil War would have been far more interesting had both sides had monsters to use during battle.
Christopher Columbus
Good Little Fido and Naughty Kittie
Of course Kittie is naughty as cats are evil and think only of murder.
Husking
Life on the Prairie
The Blue Watchamacallit would eventually be hunted to extinction by settlers.
Mink Trapping
Moosehead Lake
That deer is in so much trouble
Our Pets
Peytona and Fashion
Weirdest race ever.
Quail Shooting
Robinson Crusoe and his man Friday
Apparently dogs and creatures don’t like each other.
Sherman and his Generals
The photographer was particularly mad about this photo as back then photos were a bit more complicated to take.
The Life of a Fireman
The Life of a Hunter
