Project MK-ULTRA

Referred to as CIA's "mind control program"- code name MK is given to illegal program of experiments on humans.
Human Experiments--were meant to identify and develop drugs to make effective interrogation procedures and torture, to weaken the individual to mind-control--very similar to brainwashing.

MK-Agency's Technical Service Staff Ultra- Previously was the most secret classification of World War II

The project was later renamed-MK-Search
The project tried to produce the perfect truth drug for interrogating SOVIET SPIES.

Most MK-Ultra records were destroyed on purpose in 1973 by CIA director Richard Helms. It is difficult to obtain much more information on the project that included 150 SUB-PROJECTS each individually founded by the CIA and MK Researchers.

Project MKUltra—sometimes referred to as the CIA's mind control program—was the code name given to an illegal program of experiments on human subjects, designed and undertaken by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Experiments on humans were intended to identify and develop drugs and procedures to be used in interrogations and torture, in order to weaken the individual to force confessions through mind control. Organized through the Scientific Intelligence Division of the CIA, the project coordinated with the Special Operations Division of the U.S. Army's Chemical Corps.

The program began in the early 1950s, was officially sanctioned in 1953, was reduced in scope in 1964, further curtailed in 1967 and officially halted in 1973.

The program engaged in many illegal activities, including the use of unwitting U.S. and Canadian citizens as its test subjects, which led to controversy regarding its legitimacy.

MKUltra used numerous methodologies to manipulate people's mental states and alter brain functions, including the surreptitious administration of drugs (especially LSD) and other chemicals, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, verbal andsexual abuse, as well as various forms of torture

The drugs/substances used for mind altering did some of the following:
1.) Substances that promote illogical thinking and impulsiveness to the point where the subject would be discredited in public.
2.) Substances which increase the efficiency of mentation and perception.
3.) Promoting intoxicating effect of alcohol.
4.) Substances/materials which will produce the signs and symptoms of certain diseases so they may be used for malingering
Malingering- exaggerated or feign illness in order to escape duty or work.

Some CIA documents suggest that "Chemical, Biological, and Radiological" means were investigated for mind control during the project.

Hypnosis- Helped recall events in interrogation procedures but were not always effective.

LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide)- Used during interrogations also experimented before use to see what other effects may be by slipping it into coffee without knowing that is causes hallucinations and some of the hallucinations were about monsters in cars and what not.

Other Drugs Used: Connecting Barbiturate IV into one arm and Amphetamine IV into the other arm. The Barbiturate would male them fall asleep following the amphetamine being released causing the subject to bobble and asking them questions could also make useful answers die to the drugs and not being clear on who was asking the questions.

John Marks talks in his book „The Search for the Manchurian Candidate: The CIA & Mind Control” an army of German doctors procured from Nazi camps after the war, of inestimable value in the development of MK-ULTRA. The connection between the experiments performed in concentration camps and numerous sub projects MK-ULTRA are clearly evidenced. The various avenues human behavior under MK ULTRA included:

Has been established a Special Operation called MK DELTA to drive MK-ULTRA abroad. Materials MKULTRA/MKDELTA were used for harassment,discrediting or disabling purpose.
From MKULTRA project were drawn approximately 150 subprojects and one of them is Project Monarch, which appears in show business industry.

Unethical human EXPERIMENTS - Project QK-Hilltop

PROJECT QK-HILLTOP 

Project QK-Hilltop was a human experimental program that was used in the CIA.

This project was done by the CIA the goal of this to gain entrance of the human mind and manipulating it. The CIA used ancient Chinese brainwashing techniques and tried to brainwash people.

In 1954, the CIA developed an experiment called Project QKHILLTOP to study Chinese brainwashing techniques, which they then used to develop new methods of interrogation.

Leading the research was Dr. Harold Wolff of Cornell University Medical School. 

After requesting that the CIA provide him with information on imprisonment, deprivation, humiliation, torture, brainwashing, hypnoses, and more, 

Wolff’s research team began to formulate a plan through which they would develop secret drugs and various brain damaging procedures. 

According to a letter he wrote, in order to fully test the effects of the harmful research,
Wolff expected the CIA to “make available suitable subjects.”

Most of the early studies are believed to have been performed by the Cornell University Medical School’s human ecology study programs, under the direction of Dr. Harold Wolff.

Wolff requested that the CIA provide him any information they could find regarding “threats, coercion, imprisonment, deprivation, humiliation, torture, ‘brainwashing’, ‘black psychiatry’, and hypnosis, or any combination of these, with or without chemical agents”.

According to Wolff, the research team would then:

…assemble, collate, analyze and assimilate this information and will then undertake experimental investigations designed to develop new techniques of offensive/defensive intelligence use … Potentially useful secret drugs (and various brain damaging procedures) will be similarly tested in order to ascertain the fundamental effect upon human brain function and upon the subject’s mood …

“Where any of the studies involve potential harm of the subject, we expect the Agency to make available suitable subjects and a proper place for the performance of the necessary experiments.”

Prefrontal Cortex (PFC)

Anterior part of the frontal lobes this region plans complex cognitive behavior, personality expression, decisions making, and moderating social behavior.

Essentially this is what is being washed during the experiment, however brainwashing doesn't fully take over or clean your mind you still have what you had before you would have to find your sense of self to realize you again.

The Amygdala is crucial during the experiment because it processes emotion.
From breaking down during the procedure to finding your new "self" the emotions can change but again you can get your old or "normal" emotions back.

Brainwashing Techniques

1.) Assault on Identity

"You are not who you think you are" systematic attacks on someones sense of self. "You are not a person" "You are not a man". Under constant attack for days, weeks, and months.

2.) Guilt
Making a person feel bad attacking constantly of sin. Ex: "Your an evil person".

3.) Self Betryal
Agreeing you are bad or not good. Once in guilt the agent, forces through physical or mental harm. To say his family and friends are doing bad also.

4.) Breaking Point
The questions of "Am I really me?" "Where am I?" "Who am I?", undergo emotional breakdown. At this point the agents makes or tries to convert them to another belief system that will save him. (His sense of self is up to the agent. They don't know anything about themselves.
