On September 4, Iceland-based photographer Iurie Belegurschi shot some remarkable aerial photos of the eruption at the Holuhraun lava field in Iceland. According to Belegurschi, the eruption fissure was nearly two miles long and lava was being launched almost 500 feet in the air. The surface eruption began on August 28 when lava from the nearby Bardarbunga volcano broke through the surface at the Holuhraun lava field. As of Monday the eruption is still underway.
